The Baroque Period is also known as the Jacobean Era or Restoration Period (1603 - 1625) with James the First reigning.
It was a time of revolution and the restoration of the monarchy, a time to celebrate. The Baroque style resembles our modern day fairytale or Cinderella wedding. Artistic expression became prevalent especially in the 17th century, often conveying a sense of drama characterized by extravagance and flamboyance. As the Elizabethan Era drew to a close, low
cut necklines came into style with their sensual connotations. Gowns were adorned with ribbons, lace and trim. The use of hoop skirts accentuated the tiny waistline. Hair
was worn up with ringlets around the face and neck.

Flowers remained essential, the bigger the better, and followed suite with the use of opulent accents. Scepter handles
were studded with gems and trimmed with silk ribbons and tassels. Every detail of a Baroque wedding was important and exaggerated.
